It is really a very good post for people who want to do white hat SEO for themselves. However, being aware of black hat SEO and avoid that is also necessary. Other than these, SEs change their strategy regularly. So one need to always remain in touch and update herself.

Hello Prashant,
This is a good article to give a head start. I am hopeful that you would have many more articles to cover the individual strategies in more details. Here are some of the things that I think would be useful for your readers (including me).

1. What not to do? There are several wrong ways to get linking to your sites. Most of the times you can get by with them; however at times search engines dedect that you are trying to work around their algorithm and black list them. One of the very commonly used work around is to link with sites such as http://www.dimensioni.net/web/categorylisting.html

2. Awareness at Executive level. SEO is still tagged as a geek term. Senior management needs to be made aware of the benefits of SEO. If you can point out some links to interesting case studies where companies benefited from SEO, that can go long way.

3. Time to market: This is very essential for any business. It's great that one can go through articles and follow a hit and trial methodology to increase the web traffic. However, there are lot of experts who are providing these services for a fees. If you can elaborate on "make vs buy" strategy for doing in-house SEO vs consulting an industry expert, that would be very helpful. Also, if you can point to some good companies such as http://www.ojoin.com/, that would be helpful.

Thanks once again for taking out time to share your learnings with everyone. Look forward to coming back for more useful tips.
Best,
